Archive for November, 2008

Ladies for Christmas this year we will be adopting a family and a military unit.  The family from what I can hear doesn’t need clothes.  Thanks to everyone who helped in that area.  We will be getting a list of items or just collecting money.  Information to come.

The military unit is Chris Hobbs’.  We will be getting together on November 30 (Sunday) and making cookies and cards.  Bring sandwiches, chips, etc for lunch and then we will get started.

November mission project is the Kentucky Baptist Children’s Home. Support our children’s home during the holidays. Our church goal is $1000.

December is the Lottie Moon offering. This offering goes toward international missions. This helps puts missionaries in the field in other countries. My sister and her family in Brazil just moved into a house and you helped provide that house. I have attached a picture.

I read an article on lifeway.com about scrapbooking.  So I did a little research.  Do you know what the top 4 hobbies are in America?  I was surprise, see if they shock you.  #1 gardening #2 bird watching #3 scrapbooking and #4 genealogy.

This article was how scrapbooking is reaching women of all generations.  The following is a summary of the article.  For seven years a group of ladies from Rocky Creek Baptist Church in Greenville SC. meet to scrapbook.  By providing a place for this creative outlet in the local church, scrapbooking ministries are able to bridge the gap between the old and the young, the churched and the unchurched.  Women who scrapbook usually have friends who also scrapbook.  By opening the church to these ladies they are bringing friends.  It’s a way to share something you love to do, testify of God’s faithfulness and reach out to your community all at the same time. It’s gathering to work on something of importance while spending time with sisters in Christ.

If you would like to read the whole article go to lifeway.com, in the search box type cropping, and it should be the first entry. (How Scrapbooking Is Cropping up in Women’s Ministries)

In the near future we will be starting a Scrapbooking ministry.  Let you friends and family know about this ministry.  Invite unchurched and new to the community.  Since scrapbooking is the 3rd most popular hobby I guarantee you know someone that does.

The next ladies meeting will be Tues. Nov. 11 @7pm.   Babysitters will be provided.  (Children will meet in the gym.)  We will be studing ”Michal”.  The scripture will be out of 1 Samuel 18-19 and 2 Samuel 3 & 6.

What does this word mean to you? Wikipedia says, ‘a group of people who share interests, views, purposes, patterns of behavior, or ethnicity’. Webster says, ‘a group held together by common interests, views, or purposes’.

Recently I have heard this word used a lot and not in a ‘good’ sense. A clique is a group of people with a common interest (Leah’s short version). As long as a group is including newcomers, a ‘clique’ is a good thing. As you see, the key here is including newcomers.  Not everyone has the same interest, therefore not everyone will ‘fit’ in all/every clique or better word group.  One clique we all want to fit in is “Christians”.

Enjoy life at it’s fullest and be positive!!!
